Common✳

A connected view of the everyday school day. Timetables, rooms and useful updates belong together, with a different perspective for teachers, families and the school office. Common gives those connections a warm, legible home.

The school day

A timetable is
only the beginning.

Common treats a session as a connection between a time, a place and a group of people. Selecting a day changes the schedule; opening a session reveals what is happening and what to bring.

The planner’s visual identity borrows from the familiar school diary: warm paper, a clear date and enough space for the details that matter.

One school / Three perspectives

01 / Teacher

Ready for the next session.

Class context, room information and the materials needed for a useful lesson.

02 / Family

A smoother morning.

A short, relevant update about the day ahead and what to prepare at home.

03 / School office

The room, ready on time.

A connection between the timetable, space allocation and any changes to the plan.

Engineering approach / Proposed architecture

The structure behind
the experience.

This front-end exploration shows a product direction. These are the system decisions we would resolve when taking it into production.

01A shared timetable, one source of truth

Store recurring sessions, dated exceptions, rooms and cohort assignments separately. Before publishing a change, check room and staff conflicts and keep the school’s timezone explicit.

02Access shaped around relationships

The server would resolve each person’s role and relationship to a class or learner. Family access would be limited to linked children; teacher and office permissions would be scoped to their responsibilities.

03Changes people can follow

A schedule update would create an audit event and identify the affected audience. Background jobs would deliver the appropriate notices, with retryable delivery records and a link back to the current session.
